This would be great, but how about keeping it drug free first. I would hate to put a cover on it just so that kids can keep their pot and cigarettes dry. I have brought my children by the park on several occassions and witnessed children smoking pipes in the middle of the deep bowl. I fought to have the skate park there, but if kids can't keep it safe and drug free...why should I support putting a cover on it?

Hi Lynette -

Am in gear, planning our big shindig for April 18, 2009, to celebrate spring and to formally dedicate "A Neighborhood in Motion" with party from noon to 3 p.m. A few fun events planned, getting RSVPs from various elected officials, and the theme is "Restyling 1929 for 2009", so Depression-era fashions are a must! Can I send you further info?

Thanks,
Peggy

Thank you for the link! We're so thrilled to be able to write about Portland's 95 great neighborhoods. We look forward to learning more about Roseway and sharing that information with the rest of the city.

Keep up the great work on your website! :-)

I see no flyers anywhere for garage sales on June 28th (as of the evening of June 27th) nor did my family. The overview map and address pages for who are having garage sales are 404's (nothing there) as well. Last year the garage sales were on JULY 28th, and your yearly event page says the garage sales are in July, but the Roseway newsletter and website say it is happening tomorrow (June). Which is it?

I just returned from the cleanup event, and while I must say I appreciate getting rid of a truckload of yard debris for ten dollars, the organization and management of the donation site was horrible. It was not set up for mixed loads at all. I spent two hours in line creeping forward a few feet at a time, watching an assortment of volunteers running back and forth who did not seem to know what segment of the jobs at hand they were to attend to. The offloading by the dumpsters was set in a manner that created traffic jambs and bad angles for unloading. There was no one person who understood how to direct vehicles (if I can't see you in my mirrors, I sure don't know what you are asking me to do!) Next time I'll just go to Metro to save time and my sanity. Poor management of events does not build neighborhood harmony.

I think a mural on the side of The Service Center building at NE 72nd and Sandy is a great idea! It will look really good during the International Day Festival being held in the Park Blocks on July 12th.

I cant wait to see that wall covered in some art. Its my hope that once we get one mural in place other building owners will want one too.

Do you know an artist that might want to help out the neighborhood?

I wanted to especially thank the organizers and neighbors that helped bring this to a halt or at least a lengthened postponement. I am proud to see the efforts put forth in maintaining our sense of neighborhood.
